Description
'A Burst of Potential' marked the beginning of an extensive series that developed in 2016. Expressionistic in touch, the bulk of the images are the product of a unique pigment blend that was discovered in my Quebec studio in 1994 - when I say unique, it is merely to the characteristics that are displayed in its use.
All of the colors that you see on this image came out of one bottle of pigment dispersion. It is through the handling that the combined pigments (only two) either combine to form a third color or repel from each other...a tension of accident and control is enjoyed.
But the more important aspect of the creative process is the lack of intention; a wordless, image-less, idea-less hope and faith that image will configure that can be accepted to a discriminating mind and a dialogue is forth coming: 'from the image'!
By dialogue I mean that the image carries the substance that is essence to imagination... or what ever might be said to trigger imagination, in its allure of human mind... Imagination has become a subject of inquiry this year, in the Palenville studio not only for myself but as much for my colleague Nicole Lemelin.
The present series consists of approximately seventy-five images - w/c, ink and gouache pieces 14x11 inches in size; and one medium sized oil painting 54x40 inches. I call the series: 'A Hundred Days of Summer' and will be referring to it often, as my intention is to post two dozen images from the series - each with sizeable descriptions that will be more about the process, intention, correspondences, attributes and characteristics surrounding 'living images'.

Thank you... and thank you for visiting. As the description states there are several issues being entertained with this type of work - a copy of the book (pdf) that followed the series is available for free if it interests you. Hopefully you will visit again. Best-of-Life - tdp
