Description
Far beyond the realm of 'fantasy' imagination has its own contextual language. Deep in the disposition of a conscious mind impressions linger in wait of finding a form...And when given the chance, and the ability to form, an image tells more than the story of the image-maker: it tells a story of The Time of the Image-Maker.
If it seems that the image presented is a rendering of some time forgotten myth then the author petitions: which of the myths is it associated to? And might even offer reward, to the viewer astute enough to proclaim its origin! But such reward will never be paid, since even in its remote associations, the tale can only be of this time and place...no other.
As the rest of the series, that this image is part of, it developed without a preordaining thought, idea or intention - other than to allow a pen glide across the paper and feel the forms that followed; and intuit where one form started and another was waiting to be formed.
A most disciplined attempt of not imagining the image and merely acknowledging that the potential was there unfolding; and that it would conclude and be what it must to be - if that sounds like something other than 'art' then so be it...Yet what arrived holds to the formalities of 'creative' art. Where it takes one's imagination might well fill a book of words; which seems all to present in the one humble and spontaneous event.
Thirty years now from its arrival, the image speaks as much now as it has, all those gone by years... When - to a viewer's amazement - the associations and the figures took turns in center-stage; each monologue pristine, original and incontestable. Each such event, even still, is a lessen in mythic parable; a language that has not vanished, even if it has been graded over with an abundance of rational, reasoned and enlightened folly!
In this more than mythic year, a seeming 'threshold' of new era, it is first publicly shared and with its contemporary title that seems to the author most appropriate to 2016.
The author has his tale for a reading of the image. And he asks you the newest viewer: Do you find a story in the image? If you do, pen it and send it to the author who would be most happy and appreciative to learn from another viewer; another drifter on the carpet of Imagination...
