Description
From a set of literally serendipitous 5x7s, 'From Cloud to Ethereal Perception', examples: both the bliss of an artist, whose attitude allows 'provincial freewheeling', while lingering aware of the stark realities of sophisticated-constraints. The forever itchy paradox of the artist: 'Freewheeling-But'...
Such is the dilemma of an artist, for there are no 'reliable' hard-fast rules but yet there are so many potentially impeding characteristics that attach to the 'spirit' of art - for lack of another limitless notion, so to exchange on the subject.
But here exampled [it is hoped] the viewer will find some of the attributes that this painter enjoys; as well finding reconciling inventiveness to the stated paradox.
Resolving spontaneity without crippling its unique suggestiveness is a task; as important as not falling victim of clich, redundancy or saying nothing at all! That an image might 'speak a thousand words', in it, suggests purposiveness. Though I am not inclined to share such number here, it is not for lack of words but that in doing so I preempt the viewer such joy. And is that not part of the allure of art; that the viewer participates, interprets... imagines a narrative or conjecture?
So while remaining aloof from interpretations, what is it that attracts my attention, to the point of 'sharing' it to a public - sophisticated or other? For one, I find it zany!
But being zany is no qualifier of art of any age...by zany must be meant, that I find it eclectic and suggestively charged...It makes me question such aspects as the background, there again the icon itself; the lack of figuration, yet the suggestion of figuration; searching from all perspectives, might there be suggest of figuration, if I turn it on its head or peer among its lines and meander...But I am proud of my questioning posture; it is something I have cultivated in all the years.
Not all viewers are so inclined; and so what else does the tiny impression bring to the stage? And merely I add that there is a sensibility about the image; it stands tall in formal issue [modern onward, of course], as well, has harmony, symmetry and aesthetic compliance and its own incommensurable charm. Will it be enough for the discerning viewer, I cannot say; yet I have faith that the image is well endowed with all it needs, to announce and defend its reason-to-be. And the year was 2015.

I can enjoy this rotated vertically or even turned upside down.

Thank you L A - for the visit and the comment. I recognize what you are saying; upside-down, for myself, I have an event between two personages [mother and child perhaps]; while in the presented position I am attached to the iconic form - and how it seems to 'characterize' a persona of a joyous sort of type... in any event, I agree with your perception!
