Description
The mythic heroics are metaphor of trans-personalisms that are not necessarily unique - except in their experience for a first time...
Though the original title (if any) is not remembered...the spontaneous image surly amazed my curiosity and imagination. It is part of the series I have long referred to as: The Comstock Series and dates to the fall and winter of 1987.
In all the years since that prolific gushing forth of form and imagery, I have resisted attaching words too tightly to these images and they have now since matured - as I have.
That withstanding, what is immediately evident are three main subjects. Abstract yet visible, a virile male figure, a feminine effigy and an orb. The beings rest in ambiguity: featureless yet descriptive to their gender and characteristic of traits such as 'active' and 'passive'.
And it is easily imagined that they are both transfixed by the orb...And the orb is not without characteristics and correspondences; forms that point in several directions and correspond to mortality, life and question are present - One might say the orb has its own ontological tale to tell...
And there is more. The entire environment begs question, from the rocky bottom to the active sweeping sky-like movement at top. All in mythic simile yet that is where the comparisons Stops! So there is no attempt to 'mimic' some ancient mythic tale; no rendering of god, goddess, hero or maiden of Nordic, Greek, Oriental or other.
What is present is a spontaneous coming forth of 'correspondences' and 'characteristics' that 'Attach' themselves to form and where mind, imagination and a remote process assigned to humanness project and experience onto the matrix of sensual-perception...All in respect to what I have called human's: Purposive Ambiguity.
Now I invite the viewer to pen the imaginal journey they see in the image and ask that the viewer record their journey of imagination as a comment.
