Description
Tens of thousands travel through the Kaaterskill Clove, for the first time, each year; even more shuttle along periodically over this tiny bridge never aware how often it has been re-engineered - throughout the 20th, 19th and even 18th centuries.
The subject of drawings, engravings, photos and post cards, Moore's Bridge, like Fawn's Leap, the Kaaterskill Falls, Bastion Falls, et al other, is a motif of the Kaaterskill Clove. And even if the most of history is unwritten concerning this sliver of earth between High Peak and South Mountain, images remain that tell a tale.
Search the images; and then let your mind fill in the stories... Wonder what attracted the poets and painters... And when possible walk the clove, and feel the zephyrs brush your cheeks, the whispers tickle your ears, as the smell of pine and other terpenes make themselves known... Imagine all the creativity that preceded your footsteps; and wonder how much more was there before the European imagined it so.
