Leap Of Faith Studio Annual Open Studio Event June 22-23

Once again The Leap of Faith Studios opens to the public. Artists Nicole Lemelin and Terrance DePietro have lined the walls with well over 200 works of art and will present a dozen new books of images, essay and poems. Once a year the couple opens the studios, where students and the general public get an opportunity to review works that span 50 years of development and see first hand some of the traditional tools of the trade. The couple make much of the assortments of paints and inks that are used and are willing to take the time to explain the craft. If you get rained out from your plans it will be well worth the ride to Palenville, NY - the historic gathering place of the Hudson River School artists of the 19th century and an inspiration to artists ever since! Malden Ave., Palenville and look for the signs and crowd.

New Book Palenville The Library Show

DePietro is as well a painter, yet when it comes to depicting the wonders of a natural landscape, he opts for his camera; reserving brushes for a more inward trajectory of perceptions. Like that, the book is brimming with photographs; and for the most part they are taken during a one-year project, 2008-09.

Along the way, something more than arrived to the perceiver; along the pathways, notions started to interfere with the beauty and sublime found; the artist realized that Nature was suggesting something more in tune of Imaginal. So when the camera was shelved, and the brushes again took front stage, a new quality – one that united the two corridors of visual creativity – started to unfold.

This is book number two dedicated to the Kaaterskill Clove's inspirational qualities...One might say these books speak to the age old notion: that Nature Loves to Hide.
