Artist's Description

Not only painters were drawn to the shadow of the Catskills, writers, poets and composers found phrase, harmony and imagination in the caverns of the Kaaterskill Clove. After all, Rip Van Winkle lived just a short stretch of the legs from the entrance to that very clove!

There are many motifs in and about Palenville. Many weather time and only develop small deformities; yet others, like the one observed here, are of a more 'temporal' kind and must be experienced before they disappear...back to where they came.
