Description
A consequence of necessity, this imaginal image was the first of a series of oil paintings which allowed the young painter to enter, cross a threshold, into a lifetime of imagination's allure that could never have been gleamed...And the year was 1985.
Now, more than ever before, looking beyond the warm foreground, piercing the veil of visceral entanglement, the chilling whiteness that rests beyond seems comforting...Or have I merely become familiar with its actuality?
Back then, I had mere knowledge of its existence, second and third hand; whereas now I look back through a myriad of events, so many correspondences, so many images, all of which unfolded from beyond the twisting yellow, beyond the silhouettes and shadows; to give direction, movement and confidence to my hand, heart and mind...Only my soul was aware and it navigated on faith...
Will the viewer recognize the implications of the 'whiteness'? Nothing we do in creative process is 'unintelligible'; nothing that arrives in imaginal form is obscure or elite. Ambiguity is merely a buffer to dull the divide of reason from subjectivity, today from tomorrow, this reality from all others...

This piece is Yummy. .. the white pulls in like teeth. I IMAGINE Standing facing front and get lost into the silky ride of ribbons. Standing off to the side and looking in would fall into the twist and turns with wonderment of where's it going? ❤️

I love how much is going on here. Every time I look at it something new appears.

As it should my friend...Retrieved in visceral splendor, this was a virtual new beginning for my explorations of paint, potential and purposiveness, way back in '86. A leap of Faith in many ways, this one image lead to a suite of oil paintings and opened the door to a lifelong process, still enjoyed today - I hope others find such added joy in their own explorations. Thank you for your comment and time. - tdp

Thank you Vladimir; this oil painting dates back into the mid-1980s; it is in a private collection in Quebec, Canada; and the process that I work with today was the same back then. Thank you for passing time in my pages. tdp

I'll keep June 24th in mind Terrance.. I'd love to visit your studio! I believe you're near North-South Lake...? I used to hike to the peak of North Mountain- one of the most beautiful sights I ever saw! You live in a gorgeous area of our state.. been wanting to get back for a long time.

WOW this is super awesome work and your poetic description gives it all the more depth~ could stare at it for a long while.. then flip the image three more times and stare each way some more~ mesmerizing!!

Thank you Danielle. 1985 seems so far; but in the looking back, through the images, it is as if it were yesterday...if you enjoy the descriptions, you will find many more in this collection...But I was also taken by your work - but you know that; I will surly be revisiting that collection - keep in mind that June 24 weekend the studio will be open to the public; if you find yourself in this part of NY due stop in...Best-of-Life Terrance
