Immersed in Autumn's qualities, what stood upright and firm moments ago, is made limp and lifeless by cold and soaking rain. Leaves weighed down become fettered, unable to escape the moisture.
Yet what once flourished as vibrant palettes of greenness is not useless and good-for-nothing! On the contrary, what arrives at this season is a chorus of harmonies played out as 'palettes' that propose new relationships to be indulged.
Splashes of mauve contrast the chromatic yellows - yellows that range in values that scratch our eyes through the most subtle of ochre imaginable. Have you a favored earth color?
Or are you most aroused, as I am, by the full range that a palette presents? Here in the autumn of decay are found the most splendid of palettes - and shared in chroma of full proportion as well!
But with all that is said of the colors, there is as well something to be remarked about the composure of rhythms that emerge from the passing of such temporal life as is seen in the fields - even alongside most any country lane.
